With a single-entry centrifugal-flow compressor and 16 through-flow can-type combustors, the 3,000 lbT the H-1 was the first British engine to pass the Gas Turbine Category Type Approval Test. It powered the Gloster Meteor in Britain and copies built in the U.S. by Allis-Chalmers were used in some versions of Curtiss XF15C and Lockheed P-80 prototypes.
