|
|
I am looking for engines of any sort to restore for ground runs or static display during our chapters Young Eagles events (Youth are given a airplane ride for free)
The purpose of this is to keep them engaged while they are waiting for their turn in the aircraft and to hopefully spark an interest in aviation.
We are a not for profit so I will provide a tax receipt for any donations made.
I am open to any engine, parts or tooling taking up space in your hanger.
Any questions I can be reached at 319-573-4067 (text or call) or acftmaint1@gmail.com.
Have a great evening.

This is a great idea. I'm currently a member of Chapter 677 and we are doing this same thing. It's a great idea for the kids and more so for maintenance training. |

The one area I believe the EAA could stress more is the maintenance side of things. They have scholarships for flying, Young Eagles day, etc.
Not everyone interested in aviation wants to fly.
If your Chapter has this in place I would like to hear more about it. |

We've got a wing without any skins, a member with an engine who wants to donate it for maintenance training, which I fully support. |

Have a couple of flaps that I'm removing the skins.
Hopefully find an engine or so to run up. |

I should have been more clear about our member, he's wanting to donate the engine to our chapter. Looking for a way to move it and transport it. Good luck in your search. You might also look either on ebay or Trade-A-Plane for projects. I've seen some of them go for really cheap. Perhaps your chapter could raise the funds to purchase one of those.
I also had an idea several years back. The Robins AFB museum is a day trip away from where I am. I wondered if the museum wouldn't donate an engine to our chapter if we agreed to restore it for the museum. |
