The 1830-75 is one of the 1350 hp versions of the 1830. Besides having the mags on the nose case and a little larger blower than the more common 1830s it also had leaded crankshaft and propeller shaft bearings. Because of their greater duribility (according to the maintenance manuel ). Does anyone know if this proved to be correct?
Also what aircraft was this model engine designed for? It now appears on some DC-3s but I dont think it was ever an origional engine for the DC-3. It appears to be an R 2000 before they boared it out. It uses the same nose case as an R 2000. I am using it on and old Russian Warbird.

Most 1830s had rolling element crankshaft main bearings. However, P&W figured out that plain bearing were more practical and forgiving so all the later engines used lead/siver plain bearings throughout. That's why the high horespower 1830s and all 2000s used plain bearings.
