s Curator for Aero Propulsion at the National Air and Space Museum, Smithsonian Institution from 1983 until 1999, I privately acquired and paid for some 637reference publications on aircraft engines and aircraft, books written by my colleagues, and technical publications necessary for aircraft and engine restoration. This collection is primarily representative of many U.S. and some foreign engine publications in the 20th century. From the 1980s, most of the publications in this collection are new and in excellent condition. Some are autographed. Earlier than that, most are new old stock and in very good condition. Some of the very old books are fragile and are so noted. All of these books are intended to be sold as a complete collection, not individually. Ideally, I would like them to go to an organization or an individual who appreciates their historic and technical significance. The total asking price of US $3,995.00 reflects primarily known and very low or no estimated acquisition cost, not today?s value which has certainly appreciated over the years. The buyer is responsible for pick-up or shipping and related costs. The collection is arranged alphabetically by author or publisher. A few entries are pamphlets, but the majority in the collection are books, hardcover or soft cover. I will gift a copy of my reference book, The History of North American Small Gas Turbine Aircraft Engines, to whomever purchases this collection.
